Day 2 – 4/11/2026 Sat, Escamplero to Cornellana; Distance: 24.5Km (15.2 miles) Maximum altitude: 373m (1,223 feet)
After a light and slow start yesterday, starting to shift gears from Escamplero, crescendo in both distance and altitude.
Leaving Escamplero saw the familiar village signs in Spain. The red diagonal line indicating it is the end of Escamplero (L’Escampleru in the local Asturiano language) and the town sign without the red line showing it’s the beginning of (you are entering) Taraniello.
Going through the trail I arrived at these two crossroads. The Camino is full of life analogies. I was reminded of how many times Christ (who is The Way/The Camino) shows me clearly which path to take in life, but I sometimes rebel and go the other way, out of curiosity, greed and selfishness.
Some Asturian country homes have these cute pot dolls adorning porches and patios.
